This is a picture explaining the 36' 30' line that allowed slavery in all states below the line. This "line" was
eliminated when the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 nullified the Missouri Compromise.
Stephen A. Douglas was a candidate in the election of 1860 and also a pro-Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854.
